SUGA’s Heartfelt Snooze Goes ⱱігаɩ Following Moonbin’s Passing in Kpop Community

The Kpop industry in the past few days seems to have fallen into darkness before the päṩṩing of one of the young artists – ASTRO Moobin. His funeral has once again made fans and industry insiders look back at the brutality of an idol’s career.

At that time, “Snooze” – the new song released on SUGA’s solo album “D-Day” at that time suddenly received a lot of attention because of the meaningful lyrics that match the context. Many artists, experts and fans think that it is a message from SUGA as someone who has experienced the life of an artist.

Here is the meaning of Snooze that you may have missed and maybe this song will make your heart stop sobbing:

These 2 weeks, the K-pop world seems to embrace both joys and sorrows at the same time. While BLACKPINK is making their presence a star in the world at Coachella, there is an unfortunate K-pop singer who has become a star in the sky.

It is not known exactly what happened to Moonbin and why he päṩṩed away. However, the media has leaned towards the reason that he committed suicide, like many other cases of K-pop artists before. The UK’s The Guardian reports that “K-pop stars are picked up by agencies at a young age – usually in their early or mid-teens – and live under tight control, with their days taken over by gruelling musical and dance training. South кσяєα has one of the world’s highest rates of suicide which, according to recent government figures, is among the top causes of d̾e̾a̾t̾h for those under 40” and that “some stars K-pop (like SHINee Jonghyun, Kara Goo Hara, F(x) Sully, etc.) has päṩṩed away in recent years.”

In fact, the singing and dancing sḳïŀŀs of K-pop artists began as trainees at a very young age, even from children as young as 8-10 years old. Not only that, the formidable competitiveness of K-pop also creates excessive pressure, which easily leads to depression or negative thinking.

Even if the competition is not too much or the pressure is not too great from the career, the intensity of work as well as the dense schedule also seriously affects the health of young idols. Injuries or αccídєnts are not uncommon for Kpop idols.

At the time of Moonbin’s departure, people began to rethink the dark side of Kpop. Meanwhile, as a K-pop artist, a colleague and senior of Moonbin and other idols, SUGA shared his thoughts on pressure in the industry through “Snooze”. The track was released in this context, giving fans and industry insiders a lot to think about.

Snooze is written from the perspective of an idol who is about to reach the 10-year career milestone, has achieved certain achievements and is looking back on the path he has gone through. Snooze contains the lessons of Agust D as an artist, advice and encouragement for the next generation of K-pop sparks.

He said, adding that the path he has taken so far has not been easy: “It may be very difficult, this road I’ve walked on/ It may have looked like a flower road, but enemies everywhеre….This is a battlefield without gunshots/ Same colleagues are enemies/ The cruel and beautiful good and evil that numbers show/ If I can’t ḳïŀŀ others, I must ∂ιє/ This floor isn’t a ring, so why ḳïŀŀ someone?”

However, he also patted his juniors and colleagues singing: “You, who’s dreaming while looking at me behind your back/ I’m always here, so don’t worry too much/ If you’re afraid to crash, I’ll willingly receive you/ So don’t be miserable as me/ You who sleep for your dreams, it’s okay to rest/ For today, don’t even dream/ When you silently give me a light smile/ Only then, I feel a little relieved….

Don’t forget the one who cries when you’re laughing/ ‘Cause they live a day on your smile/ When I get erased in the repeating schedule/ It’s okay if it’s too much for you, you can take a little rest/ Cry out loud/ When the world gets ugly/ When the hand that greeted you turned into a pointing finger/ You can take a deep sigh and shout it’s like poetry/ Because you are no different from anyone else/ Why did you choose this painful and lonely road/ Never forget the reason, even if time päṩṩes/ I hope your dream won’t just be left as a dream/ I’ll cheer you on anytime, anywhere (Dream)…

When the petals wither and fall/ I’ll cover you good night/ When the fog goes away/ I’m leaving, bye/ Blooming dream”.

Snooze features the late musician Ryuichi Sakamoto – the idol of Agust D and Woosung – the vocalist of The Rose band, a colleague and good friend in the world. The appearance of a legend of the previous generation and a friend of the same generation in a song addressed to the next generation is symbolic and meaningful.

“Snooze” literally means snoozing the alarm to go back to sleep. Through this song, SUGA brings a message that if you find it too difficult, don’t hesitate to press pause, rest and take care of yourself. At the same time, when it comes to success, don’t forget the people who have supported you.

Especially, when placed in the context of Moonbin’s ďệäẗḧ, it is really an emotional song. It’s a song that K-pop trainees and artists should listen to at least once, and it’s even for everyone who’s chasing their dreams.

Previously, Suga had collaborated with IU on the song “Eight”. IU sang the main vocals while Suga was responsible for the rap section as well as composing the song. The song was dedicated to IU’s close friend, Sully, who had passed away, and the lyrics were a tribute to her. “Eight” became one of the most popular songs of 2020 and achieved significant success on music charts.

Fans expressed their sympathy for this song of SUGA:

– Yes the song is so so beautiful and touching. When I was going through the translated lyrics I could not stop myself from shedding tears

– Snooze is a warmest hug from him to all my past/current traumas, enxeity

– Im thankfull to him that he made this beautiful masterpiece

– Not gonna lie, I was crying when I listen to the song, Yoongi really know how to deliver the message through his voice, I can feel the pain and the comfort at the same time.. Yoongi’s song always have a deep meaning ♡♡

– I wish Moonbin was able to hear this song..

– This beautiful piece and he work with someone he has so much respect for

– I love that he chose Woosung to sing the chorus. This man’s voice is very beautiful

– A beautiful piece from Yoongi and I am grateful that it is longer at 4:25 minutes. It’s comfort and peaceful. The contribution of Mr. Sakamoto and WOOSUNG make it extra special.

– This song genuinely feels like a hug

– #agust D message of comfort and support to his junior in the industry is enviable…How I wish #MOONBIN was able to listen to #snooze …Rest on sol∂ιєr

– Snooze is also my fav song in this album. even i didnt use eng sub for a 1st time listening, i fall in love with it already

– Suga has proven what kind of person he is through his song… Listen to the words of comfort he’s trying to give the other idols in his song despite the fact that himself received nothing but hate and threats yet he chose to distinct..An IDOL to your idol…#snooze#agustd# D day
