The neutron star in question is located in the constellation Pisces and is about 1100 light years from Earth. Through the use of the Neutron star Interior Composition Explorer (NICER), an international team of experts from the University of Amsterdam and the University of Maryland were able to map the complete surface of this neutron star. They examined the x-ray light from the star and checked for any changes it undergoes over time.

However, what’s even more exciting is that they stumbled upon some unexpected findings. They discovered hot spots on the neutron star’s surface, which shook up our previous understanding of these celestial beings. Similarly, as with black holes, neutron stars are incomparable, and their behavior can’t be accurately predicted by traditional physics.
