It turns out that the couple was in a deep emotional hole when they met Maggy, a few months earlier after they had lost their rescue dog, Mischka.

The dog had been diagnosed with cancer and despite his fight, he could not overcome it. It was very difficult for the husbands to accept that they would have to put him to sleep, but they finally did it to end his pain.

The dog lived in a shelter run by the guys from Halfway There Rescue. Before arriving at that place, Maggy had been used as a breeding animal by her former owners who ended up putting her aside.

Meeting her was love at first sight, it was an instant connection. “We felt like she was meant to be with us.”

At first, Mark was not completely convinced about the adoption and went to the place to please his wife. However, he was the most in love with Maggy.
