Many people couldn’t help but feel heartbroken and saddened when they saw the image of the dog Athena becoming emaciated due to being mistreated and starved.
The image of the skinny dog made many people feel sad because they thought it was dead. However, in reality, it is still fighting to survive after months of being starved, abused and mistreated by its former owner.
When found by the Jefferson SPCA animal organization (USA) on October 25, the poor dog weighed only 11kg, only half of its original weight.
In addition, the dog also suffered from anemia, dehydration, worms and infections. Veterinarians said a miracle happened when this dog kept his life.
The image of the skinny dog made many people feel angry with Athena’s former owner.
After constant treatment and care, the dog recovered and was able to walk on his own. Everyone in the Jefferson SPCA organization calls the dog by the name Athena.
After a period of continuous care, Athena was able to walk on her own.
